6 Day Update

Ari's injuries were on the sever side. There was quite a bit of damage to his nerves, but we were very lucky that we were in a vets office 2 hours after he lost feeling/control and a great vet who, before we even put Ari on the table, knew the injury, and sent us straight to one of the best surgeons in the area. (down the hill about 15 minutes away). He was in surgery within 5 hours and apparently that doesn't happen a lot.

We have found that a lot of vets will simply send animals away with pain killers.

In any case, we are very lucky with how well Ari is doing. On Saturday he was was able to come home with us. only 5 days after the surgery.

We he was having issues with a swollen esophagus and that held him in for another day until he could go a full day without throwing up.

Apparently it can take weeks or up to months for dogs to regain movement in their legs after this injury.

Ari walked out of the vets office (with help of a sling) only after 5 days. The vet said that they have never seen anyone recover so quickly and never have let a dog walk out after so little time.

That afternoon we went out for 20 minutes. Ari jumped over and out of his cage, tried to get on the kitchen counter, walked all the ways to the garage, busted through the cat door into the garage, gone down the steps and was eating some cat poo from the litter boxes when we got home.

Today he is doing even better. He still needs help and get tired very easily, but he is walking and getting better. There is a case of another frenchie same age, same injury, and after 2 months, he is just starting to be able to move his legs, so we are very lucky.

Pup Update

day 2 is ending with Ari's recovery. So far he still has not regained control of his hind legs or his bladder but is making promising progress.

Today we has been able to stand for a few minutes, and he actually was able to climb/jump on to chelseys lap.

But it still could be a weeks before he may be able to walk. The main thing that will get him sent home is getting control of his bladder back.

But the vet says he is showing all the sign they like to see.

We should hit the tables in vegas!

So, as is our style, more pet problems.

This weekend little Ari got all excited and was running around the backyard in Tahoe. He ended up running and jumping up on the railing and superman jumping off the the edge of the deck. He was walking and running fine the rest of the weekend, but woke up this morning at 5am paralyzed.

He ended up rupturing and herniated 3 discs in his back. He spent 5 hours in surgery this afternoon and feeling has returned to his legs. Whiles its looking positive, there is a still a chance that he wont be able to walk. But, the specialist has high hopes.

So maybe he will be in a little puppy wheel chair when the fam comes down in a month.. haha, he could heal quickly or slowly. We just have to wait and see.

This dog is costing more then my car. hahaha Pet insurance anyone?

Funny how i posed a month and a half ago that we were buying a house and that we waited to long to say anything because they guy was a real piece of work. Well it took a long time.. but this week it became 100% official that we own our house. well not the one we are in now, but the one in the video below. There are tennets living in there right now and we are renting it to them for a few months to let them find a place to live. So we move in on July 1st! But it is ours.

So yay for that.

in other news.. i got layed off again, (3 time from the same company) hahah but at least the new owners gave me a decent severance. Which i dont mind because i get to concentrate on school.

Snowboard season was real slow this year, but as it went on got more days in. It seems lame that we live 40 mintues from out mountain, but with gas at $4 a gallon.. its not too cheap to drive up.

But tahoe has been getting records amount of snow. This tuesday was the first sunny day in over 2 months. The roads have been closed almost every weekend. we are up to about 67 feet of snowfall so far and a few resorts are staying open until June.

This weekend we have a few people flying in from out of town and we are going to tahoe for a few days to enjoy some sun and snow.

not much else to report. oh.. yeah..

I went on a Cat trip out in Washington in feb. It was a blast. I made a movie out of it but saving it got corrupted and then i got laid off and now longer had access to the computer that i used that could handle the HD.. so its unfinished with all the best footage left out.. but here is the first 8 minutes of it. one day i'll get a stronger computer. with an i7 that can handle it. haha

we didn't want to mention anything because we didn't want o jinx anything.. but Chelsey and I have slowly been house hunting for a while now. With the market so low its a great time to buy. Anyways....

So we have been in escrow for a couple weeks now and got our final loan approved today. They only thing that can mess it up is if the owner refuses to fix the repairs that we want and backs out. (we don't think he will because has to sell it and he's going to have to fix them for anyone)

As it has tenants in it right now that we might let stay until June, as our current lease isn't up so move in isnt till then but ya.. here is the house that we bought!

Thank you for the well wishes. Many people have requested pictures of juniors, so here are two of them.

?

I am not sure what people know..

on thursday 2/9/2011 Our cat junior mint came in for the night look sluggish. He wasnt moving much, and he threw up. We assume we had eating somesthing bad, and let him sleep out the night. Friday night he continued the same and we fouund a woud on him.

Saturday morning 2/12/2011, we found out junior mint was shot by some kind of bullet.someone in our neighborhood shot our cat......
he went through major surgury. they removed 8in of intestine. and flushed him out from infection 5 times.

sunday we visited, he seemed okay, but was drinking, and still on iv fluid.

monday, chelsey visited, he showed good symptoms, loved me. seemed happy.

tuesday morning, junior mint passed away

This is very blunt and to the point.. but he is our first born son.. and we are a mess..

we loved him and we're not sure what to do.

I know I know.. we never post. Christmas and New years have been busy, and fun. We've been trying to get back on track for going back to work and school.
The reason for this post is that I, Chelsey, have started a blog. This blog is primarily about my life as a teacher, and will prob have very little pictures, but lots of funny stories, plus lots of complaining about the difficulties I have to deal with.

Feel free to read if you are interested :)
